Business Unit Management Transactions

Transaction /DSN/060_BUMD – SSPF Business Unit Master Data: Maintain 

This transaction is used to capture data attributes specific to the Business Unit Master Data, upon initial launch of the transaction it will be necessary to create the Business Unit, simply enter the name of the Business Unit in the field “Business Unit” and click on continue, then confirm the creation of the new Business Unit.

If the Business Unit has already been created, enter the Business Unit name in the Business Unit field or use the drop-down menu to choose from the list of available Business Units, and then click on continue, as shown below;

 

In the resulting screen, the field groups and field contents will be displayed ready for maintenance as shown below;

 

Field Groups are lists of attributes that are grouped together as they share a similar purpose, such as Departments, which is data pertaining to the various departments within the Business Unit, Costing Grouping CO Versions etc. (note for headcount applicable cost elements must be specified)

 

Maintaining attributes

The content for each attribute can be maintained simply by clicking on the content field itself, when doing so, the attribute to be maintain becomes highlighted and a popup is displayed to maintain the specific information as shown below;

 

Mandatory attributes are shown with a “?” in the field contents. These must be maintained.

Most attributes in this transaction have predefined values which can be chosen from a list, simply click the dropdown on the field to display the list of values to choose from;

 

Duplicating attribute groups

If any groups of attributes are required more than once, the attribute group can be duplicated. Click on the  button on the toolbar and the group will be duplicated. The new attribute group will have a new group item number, and will be shown in blue, the attribute contents can be maintained in the same way as described above.

 

Deleting duplicate groups

If a duplicated attribute group is not required for any reason, it can be deleted. Click anywhere on the duplicated attribute group and then click the  button on the toolbar. The duplicate group is removed from the contract.

When all necessary attributes have been maintained click  on the toolbar to save.

Transaction /DSN/060_BUMD_DISP – SSPF Business Unit Master Data: Display

This transaction is used to display Business Unit Master Data, upon launch of the transaction enter the Business Unit name in the contract field or use the drop-down menu to choose from the list of available Business Unit, and then click on continue; as shown below;

 

It is also possible to display Snapshot data for a Business Unit; this is data captured at a specific point in time. This is often useful as Business Unit data may have changed over time and it may be necessary to display the data at a previous point in time.

To do this, first enter the Business Unit name, then click the “Read from Snapshot Data” checkbox, the application will display the “Snapshot Date” field, use the dropdown to choose from the list of available snapshots as shown below;

 

After clicking continue the Business Unit Master Data attributes will be displayed.

Transaction /DSN/060_BU – SSPF Business Unit Attributes: Maintain

This transaction is used to capture data attributes specific to the Business Unit, the Business Unit should have been created in the previous step, enter the Business Unit name in the Business Unit field or use the drop-down menu to choose from the list of available Business Units, and then click on continue, as shown below;

 

In the resulting screen, the field groups and field contents will be displayed ready for maintenance as shown below;

 

Field Groups are lists of attributes that are grouped together as they share a similar purpose, such as Submission admin, which is data pertaining to the administration of the Business Unit in preparation for reporting, Business Unit data, e.g. name and address, headcount, and various other financial data.

Transaction /DSN/060_ BU_DISP – SSPF Business Unit Attributes: Display

This transaction is used to display data attributes previously captured for Business Unit Attribute Data, upon launch of the transaction enter the Business Unit name in the contract field or use the drop-down menu to choose from the list of available Business Unit, and then click on continue; as shown below;

 

It is also possible to display Snapshot data for Business Unit attributes; this is data captured at a specific point in time. This is often useful as Business Unit data may have changed over time and it may be necessary to display the data at a previous point in time.

To do this, first enter the Business Unit name, then click the “Read from Snapshot Data” checkbox, the application will display the “Snapshot Date” field, use the dropdown to choose from the list of available snapshots as shown below;

 

After clicking continue the Business Unit Master Data attributes will be displayed.

Transaction /DSN/060_BU_SNP – SSPF Snapshot Business Unit Attributes

Periodically (mostly monthly) the Business Unit data attributes must be “Snapshot”, as previously discussed, a Snapshot is a representation of the Business Unit data at a specific point in time. Snapshot periods are linked to the fiscal periods as defined in the SAP system.

Upon launch of the transaction, enter the Business Unit name or choose from the list of available Business Unit using the dropdown menu. Enter the Calendar and choose the Fiscal Period for the snapshot, the Snapshot date will be predetermined based on the chosen fiscal period as shown below;

Click continue  to execute the Snapshot.

The application will perform the Snapshot in the background and display the message  in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
